Star-crossed: Chapter 2"I'm doomed," Miranda muttered to herself in her cell. "I'm going crazy, I know it."
She looked at the clock. 12:59. Late? More than late.
"Silly human..." The fairy appeared on her shoulder. "I can get you out...."
"Wha-?" Miranda looked at the fairy.
"Close your eyes!" The fairy commanded. Miranda closed them, and she heard another explosion that suddenly stopped. She opened her eyes, and everything was neon green and red, and black. The policemen were frozen in place.
"What's going on??" Miranda followed the fairy as she flew out of the hole she made.
"It's the 13th hour," she explained. "It's the hour between one day and the next."
"Why are you doing-" Miranda began, when she saw a horrific sight. It was a tall, black shadow leaning over a fresh corpse, horribly maimed. Miranda stopped and faced the shadow. "Hey you!" she yelled. "Leave that alone!"
The shadow turned towards her and she realized it was some sort of human. It was a blond woman with leather garments and claw-like glo
Star-crossed: Chapter 1Miranda walked down the mueseam halls, absent-mindedly fiddling with a rubber ball. She swept her brown hair behind her ears as she looked at the Roman artifacts. She sighed, and looked at her watch. Ten-thirty. Her foster father will yell at her all night for being out so late. She groaned as she sat down on a nearby bench, wishing that she didn't drift off so much in class.
"You have violet eyes," a small voice giggled in her ear. "Normal mortals don't have violet eyes."
"Who's there?" Miranda turned, but noone was there, save an odd woman looking at Medeavil weaponry. The woman turned and smiled at Miranda. She was wearing a dark red jacket and loose black pants, and a fedora with a long peacock plume in it. Her hair was dark brown, but well-kept in neat long curls. Her eyes were a startling yellow, and her entire face had a wolfish look to it.
"Just me, young one," the woman said, in a voice that was not the tiny one Miranda had heard. "Just Vivian.
Star-Crossed- PrologueLong ago, when magic and man existed peacefully- a war started. The human kings had grown fearful of magic's power, so they aimed to control it by limiting it's flow. The kings and queens of magic, so infuriated by this, sealed their kingdoms from mankind, and magic was seemingly lost.
However, there was one person- a half-human, half-elf enchantress known as Elanora, who saw hope for both kingdoms. She made a promise to one of the human princesses as the worlds of magic and man separated:
"By the blood that runs through my veins,
Two children of mixed calling shall be born.
They will live in the different worlds until it is their time to join the realms back together,
The daughter of a human and the son of magic-kin..."
Generations pass, and the prophecy has yet to be fulfilled, when a girl in the human world and a boy in the world of magic are born on the same day......
Fairy-KinIf you go to the woods today,
You're in for a big surprise.
If you venture to the darker parts,
Be sure not to tell any lies.
For if you go out you're sure to find,
The faeries and their kind.
If you go into the fairy ring,
You'd better close your eyes.
If you fall in the fairy ring,
Remember quickly to rise.
For the fairy-kin would love to win
A child to keep as their prize.
If you go near the old oak tree,
Beware the sound of pipes.
If you hear them near the old oak tree,
You'd better run for your life.
For when fairy-folk play, they mean to say,
"Come nearer, my child, and we'll steal you away."
GraveyardLet's walk in the graveyard
How delightful it will be
To imagine the lives of the people
If they were like you and me
Nobody will be mourning there
It's an old graveyard, you see
There will not be a soul where we walk
Not a moan to be heard in the air
We've heard lots of stories
Of graveyards being scary places,
But tell me, what's so harmful
About peaceful, resting faces?
Haven't you heard of the garden,
With violets and black roses?
Graveyard trees swaying in the breeze,
And statues in beautiful poses?
Here we are at the graveyard
Get rid of all your fears
Nothing will harm you, I assure you
I've been buried there for years.
