Andrew couldn't help it, he was a bit nervous.  He plucked at his forest-green shirt, looking around the small cafe. Outside, Rayna snuck another peek at Andrew before leaving him to his own devices.

Not long after she left, an... Elegant man man with his gently waving hair tied back entered the cafe.  Well-groomed, to be sure, but looking more like he was taking a quick break from work than meeting a date.

Andrew sat up and looked at him.  The other caught Andrew's eye and walked up to him.

"Are you Andrew Rossin?"  he asked, an inflection of a Canadian accent noticeable in his voice.

"Yeah, and you're Gerard, right?"  Andrew nodded, his voice getting a little higher than it normally was.  But he couldn't help it, this man was Gorgeous!

"Yes, Gerard Montaine," the other man replied with a nod, if also with a small air of curiosity at the utterly feminine pitch of Andrew's voice. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.  Terrible traffic."

"Oh no, of course not," Andrew smiled. "I only got here five minutes ago."

"Mm," Gerard sat down across from Andrew. "So... Now we're here."

"Yep," Andrew replied, then proceeded to start a conversation in order to prevent an awkward pause.  "So.... What do you do for a living?"

"Oh, I'm a secretary for a business tycoon," Gerard explained casually, which contrasted with his still formal posture.  "I'm also his head of staff at his personal residence."

"Huh, that would explain your nice clothes then." Andrew commented, crossing his legs and beginning to lean in.

"Yes," Gerard smiled a little. "But what about you?"

"I'm a police officer," Andrew chirped, resting his face in his hands.

"Really?" Gerard was surprised.

"Yep," Andrew giggled, showing Gerard his badge. "See?"

"Odd," Gerard tilted his head a little and looked down for a moment.  "Excuse me if I insult you, but you seem rather fragile for a cop."

"It's fine," Andrew chuckled. "I get that a lot.  But I love working for justice, plus I get to meet a bunch of people."

"Hm," Gerard nodded. "But it's a dangerous job."

"To be sure," Andrew agreed. "But my partner, Rayna, she looks after me.  She's real tough."

"I see," Gerard looked down again, which prompted Andrew to lean over the table and see what he was doing.

"Are you.... Taking notes?" Andrew couldn't help but chuckle.

"Huh, oh yes. I'm sort of a workaholic," Gerard admitted, still looking down.  "In fact, it was my employers idea to get me out dating."

"Ha," Andrew smiled. "I got a couple of my friends to find a date for me." He chuckled. "So I guess this is a blind date."

"Yes, I believe so---!"  Gerard looked up, surprised to find himself just inches from Andrew's face.  He leaned back a little, a tiny blush tinting his face.

"Oh, sorry," Andrew sat back down, twirling his hair in an embarrassed fashion. "I'm one of those people who forget about the whole 'personal space' thing, you know?"

"I can tell," Gerard chuckled a little, a smile finally finding its way onto the man's face. Andrew thought it was a beautiful smile.

"You know, you're like, totally cute when you smile," Andrew sighed dreamily to Gerard, slipping into a more relaxed and flirtatious state.

"Uhm, come again?" Gerard blinked.

"Oh, uhm, I'm sorry," Andrew chuckled, quickly blushing. "It's just- you know, I have- You know..... I mean...... Eheheheheh."

Gerard looked at him for a second, but then his expression softened. "It's alright," he smiled.  "You're probably the most interesting person I've dated yet."

"Really?" Andrew couldn't help but blush bashfully.  It was silly, him getting so excited and hopeful on the first date.  But.... Something felt so different about this one. Everything seemed to click together in a strange and wonderful way, and Andrew didn't want to let this one get away like he let the others did.  So, he sat up and stated after a dreamy pause: "I've really enjoyed talking with you too, like, a lot."

Gerard chuckled, tilting his head a little.  "I can tell.  You're not from Gotham either, are you?"

"No, I'm a New Englander," Andrew smiled. "I grew up in Rhode Island."

"I, myself, am French Canadian," Gerard nodded. "I'm originally from-"

"-Is that why your hair is so pretty?" Andrew interrupted absent-mindedly. "Oops, I'm sorry." He then apologized.

"No problem.... Really." Gerard smiled kindly.
